Upland Brewing Co
Upland Brewing Company is a local brewery with six locations across central Indiana, including the company’s original brewpub in Bloomington. Upland has a strong track record of sustainable practices, such as local purchasing, renewable energy, composting, and wastewater treatment to reduce phosphorus. Upland’s vermicomposting system has the capacity to reduce food waste by up to 8,000 pounds. Some of the beers are named to reflect the brewery’s commitment to environmental sustainability, such as “Helios” which referenced the installation of ten solar tube panels on the roof of the brewery, which have dramatically reduced the amount of natural gas used to heat water used in the brewing process. Upland was the first brewery in the Midwest brewery to utilize solar power for brewing and sustainability, innovation, and quality are an integral part of Upland’s brand.
